In today’s society, most children no longer grow up within the security of an extended family – or even a well-integrated community. Our world is moving faster and faster. And, while it is providing us with amazing innovations, we must stop to consider the implications for our children. How will they become effective, well-adjusted people if we don’t take the time to help them build a strong moral foundation and a sense of community?
Life is often bewildering to children. It takes time to understand how to fit into this complex world. We can help by giving children ideas on how to create order in their life and by conveying the advantages of moral behavior. Children benefit enormously from talking about basic concepts that we, as adults, often take for granted.
